Team India set to tour Ireland in June 2018

Prior to the commencement of their English tour, team India will face Ireland in two matches.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced some delighting news for the Indian cricket fans. In their announcement, they mentioned that the men in blue are all set to play over 80 international matches as a part of their FTP for the period between 2019 to 2023. Also, the Indian team will be hosting Afghanistan in their first ever Test match after getting the Test status earlier this year.

The match will be played in the year 2019 and is set to be a historic match for sure. In addition to this, India will also be hosting the 2023 edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup. Also, they will host the next edition of the ICC Champions Trophy as well. Now, another news report published in Cricket Europe confirms that the Indian team will be touring Ireland for a couple of matches in summer of 2018.

The Indian team is scheduled to play a full series against England in mid-2018 this year. Prior to the commencement of their English tour, team India will face Ireland in two matches. The venue is likely to be Malahide.

There is still some thinking left to be done on whether the two matches would be ODIs or T20Is. There is also a possibility that the two sides could face in two T20Is on two successive days. The matches are expected to be sell out affairs for sure since the Indian community in Ireland have been waiting for an Indian visit for over a decade now.

Previous clashes between the two sides

The last time these two sides met in Ireland was back in the year 2007. India had beaten Ireland by 9 wickets on that occasion. After that, the two teams had locked horns in a group stage fixture in the ICC World Cup 2011 at Bengaluru. The men in blue had beaten the men in green by 5 wickets. The two sides also met in the ICC World Cup 2015 and the result was in India’s favor yet again.
