India beat Sri Lanka by 304 runs in the first of the three Tests at Galle. The win came despite the absence of their regular openers KL Rahul and Murali Vijay. Their replacements, Shikhar Dhawan and Abhinav Mukund did not let the team feel their absence with their terrific individual performances. Though the Lankans haven’t quite managed to challenge the No.1 team they are working on fine tuning things further. A new instrument is being used in the batting sessions and is helping the Indian batsman.

Team India’s assistant coach Sanjay Bangar whose primary forte is the batting department was using a new instrument in the nets ahead of the first Test at Galle. Called Robo arm, the device is made to give throw downs to the batters. It is a new version of the ones traditionally used by the team.

It has also been reported by xtratime, that the support staff has been using the Robo since the Champions Trophy. It has been designed by an Indian company with several interesting features. “There are a lot of benefits. It has excellent grip for sweaty hands and is suitable for all. It is easy on shoulders as well as it takes the burden away. It generates speed upto 100 mp/hr,” a member of the support staff was quoted by the portal.

Since the likes of Virat Kohli and few others spend much time taking throw downs in the nets, this new device has come to much use.

Colombo Test

India are in Sri Lanka to play three Tests, five ODIs and a solitary T20I. The second Test will be played at Colombo from August 3. Lokesh Rahul in all probability will open in the second Test after he missed out the first one due to fever. This means that despite a good show from Tamil Nadu opener Abhinav Mukund in the first Test, he may have to warm the bench.
