13th January 2019, Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh – The 15th Academy of Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP) was inaugurated by ace cricketer Yusuf Pathan in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh at a press conference held at NK College, Kusmara Road, Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh. Also present at the press conference was Mr. Harmeet Vasdev, Managing Director (CAP). This is the 2nd academy launched by CAP in Uttar Pradesh.

The cricket academy is the ideal platform for the young talents who want to live up the dream of playing cricket for the country. It not only promises to persuade cricket like an open manual but also give a direction towards the game. Currently, there is no structured cricket academy in Mainpuri and nearby cities/towns that are professionally run with a well-developed coaching program created by the great minds of cricket, qualified coaches, great mentors like the Pathan brothers and the best in class training facilities, equipment, and technologies.

Since the inception of CAP, the academy has observed a massive pool of talent in the state of Uttar Pradesh. With the Mainpuri academy, CAP aims to train and nurture the young pool of talent to produce district, state and national level cricketers from Mainpuri and nearby cities/towns. However, in the past, CAP already has produced players who have been selected to represent the state on district levels in Uttar Pradesh.

Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP) is currently present in fourteen cities- Mainpuri, Ludhiana, Delhi, Kota, Patna, Morbi, Noida, Bengaluru, Rajkot, Surat, Sonipat, Port Blair, Raipur, and Lunawada and aims to provide world-class coaching and training infrastructure to the young children. Australian cricketing legend Mr. Greg Chappell, former coach of the Indian Cricket team and Mr. Cameron Tradell, renowned coach from Australia have designed the curriculum for the coaching program.

The Academy has pledged to invest INR 2 crores along with its partners for further expansion across India in various cities of Gujarat, Punjab, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. With a group of select qualified expert coaches, the Pathan brothers, Irfan and Yusuf, had launched these academies over 2 years ago to reciprocate their love for the game.

Plans to open more academies

In the words of Mr. Yusuf Pathan– Director, Cricket Academy of Pathans, “We are providing every possible assistance to the aspiring cricketers and expect to become the first preference for all the ambitious and aspirant cricketers in Mainpuri. Through our world-class coaching, our students are now getting selected for the district and state level matches. We have plans to open more academies in tier 2 and tier 3 cities which will assist the budding cricketers to get trained in the right manner.”

Across India, 25 students have already been selected to represent at district and state level from CAP centers. The most recent selection was of Rajpal Chaudhary, a talented batsman from CAP Patna who represented Bihar at U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy. CAP is proud that an increasing number of students are being selected for various District and State level camps. They hope to continue this trend in Mainpuri also and produce some national and international level cricketers in the future.

The academy provides coaching for children to play cricket as well as those who aspire to become coaches in order to understand the technicalities of the game and in return execute their learned skills on kids. Also, the academy focuses on nutrition, psychology and the overall physical development of the students.

Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP) has tied up with the UK based cricket technology partner- Pitch Vision to track student’s performance in real time via a cutting-edge technology program. This technology bridges the gap between the Pathan brothers, coaches and the students.

According to Mr. Harmeet Vasdev, Managing Director, CAP, “CAP plans to expand their operations by opening their second academies in Delhi and Bangalore and for the first time in Ranchi, Vizag, Mysore, Dehradun, Hisar, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Rewa, Haldwani, Shrirampur, Akola and to the major cities of Uttar Pradesh like Agra, Bareilly, Kanpur and Varanasi to give an opportunity to budding cricketers who need access to world-class coaching infrastructure. The academy will be providing quality service by preparing them for selections at higher levels.
