The Hundred 2022: Sarah Glenn pouched a screamer for Trent Rockets to dismiss Manchester's Lizelle Lee

The third match of The Hundred Women’s competition 2022 on Saturday, the 13th of August, saw an exceptional piece of fielding effort from the English bowling all-rounder Sarah Glenn, who leaped in the air to cling on to an absolute blinder, representing Trent Rockets in a game against Manchester Originals at Old Trafford in Manchester. The incident took place in the second innings when Manchester Originals were set a target of 120 runs by Trent Rockets. Manchester’s Protean opening batter Lizelle Lee tried to heave a delivery on the 24th delivery, but only managed to loop the ball in the air, and Sarah Glenn ran back from mid-off and snaffled the catch, displaying terrific athleticism in the field. The Hundred’s official Twitter handle shared a post commending the outstanding effort of the English all-rounder for the Trent Rockets. Manchester, in their reply, were off to a decent start but were pegged back after losing Lizelle Lee to Glenn’s ridiculous effort. The Englishwoman then returned to grab two wickets with the ball as well, but Aussie bowling sensation Alana King, on her debut, stole her thunder by scalping four wickets, including a first-ever hat-trick in the competition’s history. She scalped the all-important wickets of Cordelia Griffith, Sophie Ecclestone, and skipper Kate Cross on successive deliveries, the latter two being dismissed for golden ducks. The CWG gold medalist later went on to dedicate her performance to the late leg-spinning wizard Shane Warne, who was an inspiration for many including the 26-year-old leggie. “He was a massive inspiration, but it wasn’t just me. It was kids all around the world who he inspired to pick up legspin. He was definitely the reason I picked up legspin. Hopefully he’s been proud watching down on me spin a few,” King spoke in the post-match presser.
