The reason behind Sussex cricketer Matt Hobden revealed

The new year brought a sad news for the English cricket fraternity as a young and promising cricketer Matt Hobden passed away at the age of 22. His county club Sussex who had confirmed on Sunday morning that the 22-year-old who played 18 first-class games, had died due to reasons which had not been released earlier. “Sussex Cricket is deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Matthew Hobden, Matthew was an exciting young cricketer with a big future ahead of him in the game. He was a fantastic individual who had progressed through Sussex’s Youth and Academy ranks, having been born locally in Eastbourne. He made his first-class debut for Sussex in 2014 and had represented the county across all three formats over the past two seasons. He will be greatly missed,” Sussex had said.

Cricketer Matt Hobden was celebrating the coming of this year with his friends in Scotland when he died. The body of the 22-year-old Sussex quick bowler was found by police at a property in Forres, close Inverness, on Saturday. The investigations are said to continue but the police are close to the fact that he hadn’t died in mysterious circumstances. In a statement released through Police Scotland, his family said: “We are deeply saddened by the sudden death of Matthew who had been celebrating the New Year with friends in the Forres area. We now ask that we are left alone to deal with the tragic circumstances that have unfolded and are allowed to grieve in private at this difficult time.”

This death shocked the world as he was seen as a growing cricketer with him being chosen as one of the six fast bowlers to take part in the Potential England Performance Programme later this year. Sussex coach Mark Davis gave his players the week off to come out of the shock and come back to normalcy.

“I’ve given the boys a week away to make sure they can gather their thoughts and be around their loved ones, process what’s happened and reflect a little bit as well,” he told the Guardian.
