Tim David was roped in for INR 8.25 crore by the Mumbai Indians for the ongoing IPL 2022. However, the dasher was warming the bench on most occasions due to which the MI team management received a lot of criticism. He made a comeback into the side during their ninth game of the season where he scored an unbeaten match-winning nine-ball 20.

Ahead of Mumbai Indians’ penultimate fixture against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium on May 17, David has gone on to say that the five-time champions could not start the season well as a result of which they continue to languish at the bottom of the points table. Notably, MI were the first team to be knocked out from IPL 2022, having lost their first eight games.

We have played some really good cricket: Tim David

“Kind of felt like the season didn’t really start for us till we got that first win. Since then, we have played some really good cricket,” said Tim David as quoted as saying by the Indian Express.“We have won three of our last four games and there has been a good feeling in the team.”

Apart from his unbeaten 20, the Singaporean cricketer also scored a vital 44 not out against the Gujarat Titans where MI registered a thrilling five-run win. He scored an unbeaten 16 runs off 7 deliveries in the last game against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings chasing 98 where MI had lost half their side on a tricky Wankhede wicket.

After ending CSK’s title defence, MI would now be eager to play a spoilsport to SRH’s playoff chances as the Orange Army cannot afford to slip any further from hereon. A loss in this contest would mean that the 2016 winners can only finish on 12 points even if they do manage to win their final league game which will not be enough.

Meanwhile, it also must be noted that heavy defeats against RCB and KKR have also adversely affected their net run rate and Hyderabad must now win both their matches with bigger margins along with hoping for other results to go their way.
