Delhi Capitals (DC) have five wins in 10 league matches of IPL 2022 and are at fifth position in the points table. In their last fixture, the team secured a victory by 21 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Currently, they are facing the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at DY Patil Stadium. Ahead of this league match, the former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer discussed the form of DC and supported the inclusion of the youngster in the XI.

Jaffer reckoned that many roadblocks like injury concerns, unavailability of overseas players, and covid concerns have come in way of DC’s campaign this season. He added that credit must be given to the team, as they are still in the hunt for the playoffs berth, despite so many challenges. The former Indian batter further said that the team has not given up, and thinks they might produce their best performance soon.

“There have been many roadblocks for DC, like from the start, their foreign players were not available, sustained injuries and then a covid scare. The credit must be given to them, but still, they are still in the hunt for the playoffs. A no-ball incident also happened, wherein they could have won that game as well. They have not yet given up, and you won’t be surprised, they might get on a roll soon,” said Jaffer on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket’ Show on CricTracker. “

Srikar Bharat is the perfect replacement for Prithvi Shaw in DC: Wasim Jaffer

Jaffer thinks Srikar Bharat is the best possible option for an opener role in the absence of Prithvi Shaw. He mentioned that the youngster did well for RCB last season, and also secured a victory for the team by hitting a six on the last ball of the game. He further added that it’s the best opportunity for Bharat, to showcase his talent in the absence of Prithvi Shaw in the ongoing fixture against CSK. In eight appearances, Bharat scored 191 runs at an average of 38.23 in IPL 2021.

“In the last game, they brought Mandeep Singh into the side, but I think Srikar Bharat is the perfect replacement for Prithvi Shaw. He played at number three for the RCB last season and was impressive with his performance, and has not got any opportunity. He will be rusty, but I think he can do well. Bharat has got a fine experience, and should be the best opportunity for him, where he can do well in the absence of Shaw,” Jaffer added.
