A lot of coronavirus cases were found in the West Indies camp, and as a result, the ODI series between Pakistan and the West Indies was postponed. And now, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) COO Salman Nasser has said that there was no breach of any bio bubble protocols.
Nasser also added that there is no clarity as to when the West Indies players were infected by Covid-19 and reckons that they might have been infected while the players were travelling.
“There’s no breach of the biosecure bubble at all. We can’t say firmly where the players caught the virus but it seems that they caught it somewhere during travel, maybe during the transit at Dubai,” said the PCB COO after the 3rd T20I.
We have to be extra cautious during the PSL: Salman Nasser
Salman Nasser also added that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should exercise a lot of caution when they conduct the Pakistan Super League (PSL) this year. Adding that the PCB will book the entire hotel for the players, Nasser said that the players will be disconnected from the outside world.
“There will be players coming from different countries, from different flights. So we will have to be extra cautious. We are looking to book the entire hotel during the PSL and disconnect the staff and everyone at the hotel from outside,” added Nasser.
Nasser also added that it was not possible for the West Indies to put together a team of 11 players after 6 of their players were infected with Covid-19. Nasser concluded by stating that the ODI series will now be held in June 2022.
“It was almost impossible for West Indies to field 11 players in ODIs after six of their players tested positive for COVID and one player was ruled out due to injury. That’s why we agreed to reschedule the ODIs for June 2022,” concluded Nasser.
