'These tactics are bizarre' - Michael Vaughan criticizes Joe Root's captaincy against Indian tail-enders at Lord's

When two strong opposition battle it out against each other, it is no brainer that one gets to witness some class acts. The final day of the second Test match at Lord’s is unwinding some interesting contests and the cricketing fraternity and fans are all pumped up. After a cameo from Rishabh Pant, in the beginning, India was all left with the tail-enders to take the lead further. However, the former England cricketer Michael Vaughan has put up his thoughts on Root’s captaincy whilst the ongoing match.

Joe Root starred with the bat for the hosts and has been a stand-out player for the team. On day four he brought Mark Wood early on the attack and that paid off for the team as the Indian openers walked back to the pavilion in quick succession. But now with the tail-enders of India on the field, Vaughan took it to Twitter to express his opinions on the ongoing match. He Tweeted: “These tactics are bizarre …. !!!” His Tweet has hinted at the way England bowlers were bowling bouncers and also the widespread field.

It is observed that England has been focusing on short-pitch bowling with the fielders scattered around the boundary. This is expected to have prompted Vaughan to have his say on the field placements and tactics by the England skipper. Fans also reacted to Vaughan’s tweet as they replied in good numbers. Some of the users agreed with Vaughan saying that the kind of field Root placed for Bumrah and Shami wasn’t acceptable. And that it was portraying that the hosts have lost the plot of the game.

Bumrah and Shami added 89 runs in the ongoing Test match. The fight that the tail-enders have been putting on the field has impressed the on-lookers as all of them are appreciating the duo for their composure. After having reduced to 209-8, the two have held the fort of the Indian side and the cricket experts and fans are full of praises for both the pacers.

The battle at the Lord’s is getting all heated up and it would be intriguing to see how the action unfolds further. The Australia Spinner Shane Warne too tweeted about the thrilling ongoing match and complimented India. His Tweet read: “Although England have been terrible tactically this morning at Lords, it’s been great to see India fight and I will say this again – How good is test cricket, love it”
