Delhi Capitals locked horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 and grabbed the match by 17 runs to see Mumbai Indians in the finals of IPL 2020. The masterstroke of opening up the order with Marcus Stoinis along with Shikhar Dhawan worked too well for them. Stoinis smashed 38 off 27 to set the pace for Delhi, and he was complimented by in-form Dhawan from the other end, who scored 78 off 50 balls.

In the same light, former Indian opener, Virender Sehwag, said in a light-hearted style that IPL franchises have been making good use of his free advice. He stated the example of Stoinis in the same case, which he advised earlier to DC. The former ace batter made his observations in a video on his FB page while reviewing the 2nd Qualifier of IPL 2020. He also pointed out that it was correct that Delhi chose to bat first after they suffered two major blows last time while chasing.

“Delhi Capitals opted to bat, but there was a surprise in store. Just as I had suggested, Marcus Stoinis opened the batting. I am telling you, they are all taking advantage of my free advice,” said Sehwag in his video.

SRH had a great chance to give DC an early jolt: Virender Sehwag

It was seen in the match between DC and SRH that Jason Holder dropped the catch of Stoinis, which turned out to be a costly affair. Sehwag said that it was a costly miss for David Warner and his men.

“Hyderabad had a great chance to dismiss Stoinis and give Delhi an early jolt. But they got a battering in return as Holder dropped Stoinis when the latter had scored only three runs.”

Though Rashid Khan got rid of Stoinis, Dhawan kept playing thunderous shots from the other end to take Delhi to the respectable zone.

“The score had crossed 80 by the 8th over, and Delhi was going ahead at full speed, but Rashid Khan came back refreshed in his 2nd over and clean bowled Stoinis. Although Stoinis got out, Dhawan was driving his car on cruise control,” added Sehwag.

Stoinis was named as the player of the match as he also took three wickets for his team part from his 38 runs knock.
