This is how MS Dhoni prepped up for his 300th ODI

Former Indian captain, MS Dhoni has possessed the ability to make and break records at will ever since the inception of his cricketing career. The 4th ODI between India and Sri Lanka at the Premadasa Stadium, Colombo is essentially a dead-rubber match, with India already having won the 5-match series by a 3-0 margin. But the day is going to be an extremely special one for MS Dhoni and all the cricket lovers all over the globe as the stalwart has touched the 300 matches mark in his ODI career.

India’s tour of Sri Lanka has been a walk in the park for Virat Kohli‘s boys as they won the Test Series 3-0 and followed it up with an unassailable 3-0 lead in the ODI series. Dhoni has played a pivotal role in India’s victory in the second and third ODIs, by maintaining his usual calm demeanour even when wickets were falling around him. He was unbeaten in both innings, with scores of 45 and 67 respectively.

MS Dhoni is all set to reach a unique milestone

While good wishes have poured in from all quarters of the game for the World Cup-winning captain on his big day, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a video on the social media platform, Twitter where Dhoni can be seen playing his trademark swashbuckling shots in a practice session. The 36-year old-has been captured in the video while sweating it out at the nets, wielding his bat with utter ease to dispatch every delivery up and over.

The 300th ODI for MSD will be a remarkable achievement in many respects. He is only the 20th player to play 300 or more ODIs, armed with a staggering career average of 51.94 and a strike rate of 88.47. Current skipper, Virat lauded the achievement richly acknowledged at the toss, the influence that the legend has had on the playing careers of the youngsters in the team, including himself, who’ve all grown under his mentorship.
