This is the main reason why ODI cricket would continue to remain relevant. While the format has found a lot of critics questioning its existence, it needs to be noted that the biggest cricketing carnival would always remain the 50-over World Cup which is the trophy that ultimately counts.

Even though there are T20 World Cups being organized regularly and there is a new concept of the ICC World Test Championship, there is absolutely no substitute for the ODI World Cup.

The next edition of the 50-over World Cup would be held in India in October-November next year. After the conclusion of the T20 World Cup in Australia on November 13, 2022, all the teams would be shifting their focus towards the real biggest prize in world cricket which happens to be the ODI World Cup. Thus, due to all these factors, the One Day Internationals will not fade away from the scene forever.
