The Test squad of Sri Lanka has arrived in India and is gearing up for the upcoming three-match Test series against India. Currently, they are playing a two-day warm-up match against the depleted Board President XI side at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. However, ahead of the game, their three players Dilruwan Perera, Roshen Silva and Dhananjaya De Silva skipped the practice session as the others were seen practising hard in the nets.

The team from island nation is all set to play their first Test since 2009-10 in the country and are chasing a dream to win a Test match in India. So far from 1982, in the 16 appearances in whites, Sri Lanka hasn’t managed to win a single game in the country and has suffered 10 losses. The skipper Dinesh Chandimal and the veteran spinner Rangana Herath have already expressed their wish to win the game and eventually the series against India and create history. Though it won’t be easy for them as the number 1 side has whitewashed them earlier this year in their own den.

Why did players skip practice?

While the team was striving hard in the middle, it was surprising to see that the three players of the squad didn’t join the team in the nets. It is being reported that the Perera, Roshen and De Silva arrived in India on Friday, a few days later than the whole team due to visa issues. They didn’t practice with the team as they had travelled on the same day and were rested.

Despite not practising in the nets, they took part in the warmup game on Saturday and have fared decently with the bat. While Dilruwan Perera scored an attacking 48 runs, Dhananjaya failed to impress and could score only 10 runs. The uncapped batsman Roshen Silva is unbeaten on 27 and has looked solid so far. Sri Lanka, after being invited to bat first, has scored 379/6 in 85 overs so far. All the batsmen have endured a nice outing and the management should feel confident about their batting.
