Three years after recovering from cancer aged 16, Kamal Kaniyal slams ton on Ranji debut

Kamal Kaniyal, the young cricketer made his Ranji Trophy debut for Uttarakhand against Maharashtra. It turned out to be a great start for the young lad as he scored a ton in the first game. But, what makes it more special is his journey to the prestigious tournament. who once suffered from cancer. However, his passion brought him back into the game.
Kamal Kaniyal was diagnosed with blood cancer three years ago due to which he was set away from cricket for almost a year. His story is quite similar to none other than the former World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh, who also suffered from cancer after lifting the World Cup trophy. And, it took around 18 months for him to get back into the game.
Kamal Kaniyal’s journey – Suffering from cancer to scoring a ton in his debut Ranji match
After Yuvi returned to the game, he never looked like the old vintage Yuvraj Singh with the bat and ball. However, Kaniyal successfully recovered from the same and scored century in his debut Ranji game that helped Uttarakhand in taking a small lead of 44 runs against Maharashtra. Now, the young budding cricketer has opened up saying that he didn’t know much about cancer. But, he was not allowed to play due to his health issues.
The doctor also gave assurance to the parents that he will recover soon. At 16, the body recovers quite quickly. He also added that the positive people were around him, who kept him motivating that helped him in recovering from cancer. And, now he is fully fit to make his name in cricket.
“I was 15 when I suffered cancer, one year I couldn’t do anything. I had leukemia, my family didn’t tell me much then. I used to often fall ill and my platelet count would drop rapidly. The doctor said the chances of recovery are high. The doctor said at this age the body recovers quickly. had positive people around me who motivated and kept me happy. I told myself now that I am getting the treatment I shouldn’t worry much,” Kamal Kaniyal said as quoted by Indian Express.
