There is a saying, “To Err is human.” But one would expect to make a very few mistakes in an article as far as the print media is concerned. Also, even if the writer commits a mistake, the editor has to point out those and correct before it goes live on the website or it gets printed in the newspaper. The same thing happened back in 2016 when Ranji Trophy was mistakenly written as ‘Ra**i Trophy’ in a leading newspaper which was pointed out by the renowned Sports writer and the journalist Ayaz Memon.
For the people of India, cricket is no less than a religion and the players are like God. It is the most loved sport in the country and definitely, the fans wouldn’t like the names of the players or the tournament being mistaken by any. But the leading publication in India did the same in the report of the domestic tournament Ranji Trophy.
What were the mistakes?
It was the report of the first day of action between Mumbai and Baroda in 2016 edition of Ranji Trophy. It seems that that the autocorrect mode of the writer/editor was on as he made a severe typo. Ranji Trophy was referred as ‘Ra**i Trophy’ in the newspaper while the names of several players were also changed hilariously. Yusuf Pathan was written as ‘Sufuse Nathan’ while the name of Aditya Waghmode was misspelt as ‘Acidity Demode’.
Ayaz Memon was left frustrated over the same while reading the newspaper and he decided to post the picture of the same on Twitter. He thrashed the editor for making such mistakes and believed he needed a kick up the backside. “Whoever edited this story needs a kick up his backside. ‘Ra**i Trophy’? For god’s sake!” he captioned the picture with this message. He had also highlighted the mistakes in the picture to let the followers know about the same.
It goes without saying that it reached many people in no time and Twitterati was amused. The replies on the tweet were hilarious as they trolled the writer for the blunders he made.

These types of newspapers don't know how publish news. They just copy and paste. Even they don't know art of editing. @cricketwallah
