Top 10 fastest hundreds by England batsmen in ODI’s: Jos Buttler did a hat-trick of the fastest centuries by balls for the three lions, as he plundered the Pakistani attack and sent the likes of Irfan and Wahab for a leather hunt. Buttler smashed eight sixes and ten boundaries, as he notched up his third ODI century.
He batted with a strike rate of 223.08 and faced 52 balls. He broke the all-time record for the fastest century by an English batsman by notching up a stroke-filled century off 46 balls. Interestingly, the previous record was also held by Buttler himself, as he blistered his way to a century off 61 balls against Sri Lanka at the Lords in 2014. The England stroke maker first came into the lime light, when he notched up a century off 66 balls against New Zealand this year (2015). The top 3 spots are dominated by this “Somerset smasher”.
England discard Kevin Pietersen is at the fourth spot (69 balls), while England’s mainstay Joe Root is in fifth place (71). Moeen Ali’s 72 ball century against Sri Lanka is next in the list. England skipper Eoin Morgan’s 73 ball century is at the seventh spot, while Ravi Bopara’s(74 balls) “Dublin delight” is well placed at the eighth spot. Former England opener Marcus Trescothick is at ninth place, as he smashed a century against Bangladesh in 76 balls. Paul Collingwood holds the tenth spot with his gritty 77 balls century against the “Bangla tigers” during 2005 at Nottingham.
