Top 10 Pure batsmen with most ODI wickets: The degree of thrill and crunch upon anything gets amplified when there are anomalies seen on the positive aspect. The above statement might seem a bit confusing but the significance for the same can be related with the nucleus of the article as we proceed. Imagine the level of entertainment we experience when we witness batsmen taking wickets or bowlers scoring dozens of runs. Well, this article focusses on the former aspect. I took the opportunity of enlisting the Top 10 Pure batsmen with most ODI wickets: 10. Allan Border – 73 wickets: Allan Border. Allan Border was a handy bowler and served Australia in picking up crucial breakthroughs on a number of occasions. Bowling in for 87 ODIs out of 273 ODIs in his career, Border clinched a total of 73 wickets with a best bowling performance of 3/20. Virender Sehwag – 96 wickets: (© Getty Images) The formidable opening batsman of India for over a decade was also the man with a golden arm and did come in the role of the fifth bowler genuinely on a number of matches. In 251 matches, bowling in 146 innings, Sehwag clinched 96 wickets with a best of 4/6. Tillakaratne Dilshan – 106 wickets: Tillakaratne Dilshan. Dilshan has so far succeeded in doing the role of an extra bowler for Sri Lanka and he has been pretty much economical as his economy rate lies less than 5. He has bowled for 201 innings in 327 ODIs and managed to clinch 106 wickets. 4. Aravinda de Silva – 106 wickets: Aravinda de Silva. In fact, during the ultimate phase of his career, Aravinda de Silva was known for his incredible spinning spells and he turned Sri Lanka’s fate in the ICC Champions Trophy of 2002 with his glamorous bowling abilities. In a total of 308 ODIs, De Silva managed to strike in a total of 106 wickets. 3. Sachin Tendulkar – 154 wickets: Sachin Tendulkar. He was a kind of bowler who could bowl six different deliveries in an over which obviously left the batsmen clueless as what would come next. Also he did the role of a seam up bowler as well as a spinner for India. In 464 ODIs, Sachin managed to clinch a total of 154 wickets with 2 five wicket hauls and the best performance of 5/32. 2. Chris Gayle – 163 wickets: Chris Gayle. (© Getty Images) The Jamaican Giant with his slow and steady spinning deliveries has managed to bring in breakthroughs for West Indies on a number of occasions. In a total of 269 matches, Christopher Henry Gayle managed to clinch a total of 163 wickets at an average of over 35. Also, he has got a 5 wicket haul by his name and correspondingly his best performance is 5/46 in an ODI. 1. Steve Waugh – 195 wickets: Steve Waugh. (© Getty Images) Leading the chart is the former skipper of the Australian line up, the elder of the Waugh brothers. Steve Waugh did manage to clinch a total of 195 wickets bowling in 207 of 325 matches that he played in. Also, his right arm medium pace did serve as a bonus for the Australian side and further strengthened the team to a good extent.
