Top 10 Teams With Most Wins In ODIs: The first One Day International was played in 1971 and since then, the format has taken a new life of itself. Teams that were only accustomed to playing the 5 day game took the pains to learn the nuances of the one-day format. After the 1983 World cup win, the game caught interest in India and changed itself into a huge profitable game that transformed into the game we see now. Bangladesh is a decent team with a couple of match winners, but playing as a unit is one of its major problems. But when they do, they can cause major upsets like Pakistan in 1999 World cup, India in 1998 and 2007 World cup. But they are also known to crumble under a little pressure, which was evident when India beat them last year after scoring just 105 and dismissing Bangladesh for 58. Despite having played 679 matches, they have won just 328 of them. England has been constantly being accused of not taking the format seriously because they are to safeguard the test format from the popularity of ODI and T20. They have reached the World cup finals 3 times, losing to West Indies, Australia and Pakistan respective in 1979, 1987 and 1992. Since then they have failed to reach the semi-finals of the tournament. They have not even won a multi-team tournament since 1997 win of the quadrangular tournament in Sharjah. A team with a calibre of players like Eoin Morgan, Joe Root, Moeen Ali has to perform out of their skins to reach the semi-finals this time also. 6. But the only thing they can’t seem to do is win an ICC or a multi-team tournament. Sri Lanka has played more ODIs in last 6 years matches probably by India. They have been the most consistent in recent years and with the retirement of Jayawardene and Sangakkara looming after the 2015 World cup, they will look forward to form a team for the upcoming new season. 4. Pakistan has played the 3rd most ODIs in 869 and won 458 of them. They have a reputation of being the most unpredictable team in the world. One day they will beat Australia chasing 300 while the other day they can lose to Zimbabwe defending 350. They have been consistently winning in every place they have been put in and are the defending World champions. India started playing ODIs just before the 1975 World cup and it was not until the World cup win in 1983, was ODIs taken seriously in the country. But that win changed everything and the love of game amongst the public has made them the richest board of all. 90% of the ICC revenue comes from India and India plays an average of 35-50 ODIs a year, a profitable cash cow and has been able to be successful to keep the fans interested. They have a talent pool that is so big that they can play a second eleven and event that team will give a tough fight to other international teams. 1. They have been the most dominant team from 2000 onwards. They have won 5 World cups in 1987, 1999, 2003 ,2007 and 2015. Have been number 1 for quite some time. Their strength is their preparedness and the coaching they receive since younger years.
