Top 5 Batsmen with most runs for Mumbai in a single edition of Ranji Trophy
1. Shreyas Iyer – 1321 runs (2015-16):
Having played in 11 matches in the 2015-16 season of Ranji Trophy, the 21-year-old Shreyas Iyer hardly put a foot wrong in the tournament. He scored heavily and aggregated 1321 runs at an average of 73.38. Had he scored 95 more runs in the final, or had Mumbai not won by an innings in the finals against Saurashtra, Iyer looked set to hold the record for scoring most runs in a season, given the kind of form he was in. He scored a classy 117 in the finals, on a wicket where no other batsman looked set and Saurashtra were bundled out twice in two days. Iyer’s form was phenomenal throughout the tournament and the young lad scored 4 tons and 7 fifties in the season with the best of 200.
