The IPL has been a paradise for batters, with numerous players making history with their exceptional performances. The 18th edition of IPL, set to begin on March 22, 2025, is expected to be no different, with more record-breaking feats to be recorded as the world’s best batters are preparing to make big impacts.

Leading the all-time run charts is Indian batting stalwart Virat Kohli, who holds the record for the most runs in IPL history with 8063 runs for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Kohli’s best season in the competition was in 2016, when he scored a record 973 runs, which is still the highest in a single edition. Even in IPL 2024, he topped the charts with 741 runs. The IPL has seen only seven players cross the 5000-run mark, but with the upcoming season, three more are expected to join this elite list. The opener of the upcoming season is set to be played between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and the Bengaluru-based franchise at the iconic Eden Gardens.

In the last edition of the cash-rich league, the batters were in rampage mode as they were easily dispatching the deliveries out of the fence with relative ease. The season saw the highest total being recorded of 287 runs by the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Furthermore, the top four scores also came from the same edition. The upcoming season is expected to be a run-fest once again.
