Top 5 current batsmen with highest strike-rate in T20 Internationals

The T20 format was introduced with a view to further popularise the game of cricket. After around 16 years, people mostly look up to the shortest version. T20 World Cups are being played and most nations have come out with their domestic T20 championships. From drafts, auctions to actions on the field, the netizens stay glued. The format has given rise to a number of explosive batsmen over the years. Even as there are batsmen, who has stuck to playing the more orthodox shots, a few of them have come up with audacious ones. It has added to their versatility and bowlers have found it tough to hit their blind spots. More often than not, these batsmen help their teams accelerate in need, due to which they have high strike-rates. They have become indispensable members of their teams. Here’s the list of batsmen with the highest T20I strike-rate (minimum 50 innings): – 1. Mohammad Nabi- 145.30 Mohammad Nabi. Though he has retired from Test cricket, he remains to be an integral member of their ODI and T20I setup. In the 20-overs format, he knows how to use the long handle. Having an experience of 78 matches in the format, Nabi has a decent strike-rate of 145.30, scoring 1,347 runs with four fifties to his name. Nabi made his T20I debut way back in 2010 and he has been weaving magic for over a decade now. He is said to have a responsible head on his shoulders and has taken his side to numerous victories. On the back of his decent numbers at the highest level, Nabi has also managed to bag deals in overseas T20 leagues. At the age of 35, he isn’t done yet and has a few years of cricket left in him. 2. The Sri Lankan batsman comes in the lower middle-order and has the potential to demolish any bowling attack. He isn’t the most consistent batter going around, but on his day, he is good enough to give oppositions nightmares in broad daylight. That he plays at a strike-rate of 152.60 shows how much destructive the left-handed batter can be. In 81 matches, Perera has 1,201 runs at an average of 24.02. The 31-year-old only has three half-centuries to show for his efforts. He didn’t have the best of outings in the World Cup after which he was sidelined for a while. The Colombo-born recently made his comeback in the home ODI and T20I series against the West Indies. Perera is no mug with the ball either, having picked 234 wickets. 3. The Victorian packs a punch in his shots and when he hits the leather, it stays hit. His brute force can be comprehended from the fact that he hammered 172 runs off 76 balls against Zimbabwe in Harare back in July 2018. He had a strike-rate of 226.31, including 16 fours and as many as 10 sixes. But, surprisingly, it wasn’t his most destructive knock. In 2013, he hammered the England bowling attack to a 63-ball 156, striking at a stunning 247.61. Apart from the two centuries, he also has a couple of fifties from 61 games. Overall, the 33-year-old has a stupendous strike-rate of 155.87. The average of 38.25 depicts that he hasn’t let his attacking game affect his level of consistency. 4. He is one of the very reasons why New Zealand have been able to take full advantage of the field restrictions. The left-hander doesn’t mind taking the aerial route, and is a dextrous shot-maker of the reverse sweep as well. Once he scored 66 off 23, striking at 286.95, against West Indies, giving a demonstration of the damage he can do. His three centuries against India, Bangladesh and the Caribbeans came inside a year from 2017 to 2018. Though he has gotten out quite a few times in the single digits, the threat he poses to the opponents can’t be undermined by any means. In 65 games in the format, the Durban-born has notched 1,724 runs at a strike-rate of 156.44. The 33-year-old also managed to rack up 11 fifties. 5. Glenn Maxwell- 160.00 Glenn Maxwell. On a few instances, he has also lost his place from the Australia setup. However, due to his unflinching style of batting, the Victorian hasn’t gotten out of the radar. When in full flow, the 31-year-old can take down any bowling attack. In T20Is, the right-hander has a strike-rate of 160 with 1,576 runs. After a number of scores in the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s, Maxwell churned out his best during a T20I against Sri Lanka in Pallekele. He smashed an unbeaten 145 off 65 balls with 14 fours and nine sixes. Last year, he scored 113* off 55 against India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The knock helped the Aussie chase down 191 after the visitors found the going tough in the initial overs.
