Top 7 players with more wickets than runs scored in their entire ODI Career (min 100 wkts)

Conventionally players in cricket have more runs than wickets in their career unless one is a pure bowler who bats at number 9, 10 or 11. Bowlers traditionally tend to have less runs in their career and more wickets due to the obvious fact that they are bowlers. Here are 7 such players who have more wickets than runs in their ODI career (min.100 wickets): 7. Charl Langeveldt (South Africa) Mt: 72 Runs: 73 Wkts: 100 BB: 5/39 Charl Langeveldt has 73 runs and 100 wickets. (Photo Source) South African fast bowler Charl Langeveldt was a good enough bowler to substitute for Shaun Pollock until Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn matured enough to spearhead the South African bowling on their own. Langeveldt was a nippy customer having all the skills required to succeed in the limited over format. He was also a prison warder at Drakenstein prison. He took 100 wickets in 72 matches and made 73 runs to go with those wickets. 6. Ishant Sharma(India) Mt: 80 Runs: 72 Wkts: 115 BB: 4/34 Ishant Sharma scored 72 runs and has taken 106 wickets. That’s the reason he has scored just 72 runs in 76 matches. He has also taken 106 wickets. 5.Ewen Chatfield (New Zealand) Mt: 114 Runs: 118 Wkts: 140 BB: 5/34 Ewen Chatfield has 118 runs and 140 wickets in ODIs. He was saved by the English physio Bernard Thomas. A good fast bowler to compliment the great Sir Richard Hadlee, he took 140 wickets in a career spanning 1975-1989. He also made 118 runs in his 114 matches. 4.Ashish Nehra(India) Mt: 120 Runs: 141 Wkts: 157 BB: 6/23 Ashish Nehra has 157 wicket and 141 runs in ODI. This is proved by his ODI record. 141 runs in 120 matches, but he has taken 157 wickets for India. Given that he does not get much chance to bat, but even if he got, he won’t be scoring much. 3.Makhaya Ntini(South Africa) Mt:173 Runs: 199 Wkts: 266 BB: 6/22 The smiling assassin has 199 runs and 266 ODI wickets.(Photo Source: Getty Images) The smiling assassin Makhaya Ntini used to take his batting seriously, but didn’t get many chances to bat. That’s the reason he ended up with just 199 runs from 173 matches with a best of 42*, but took 266 wickets to justify his main job. 2.Allan Donald (South Africa) Mt:164 Runs: 95 Wkts: 272 BB: 6/23 Donald took 272 wicket and scored 95 runs in his ODI career. It’s a miracle that he managed to score 95 runs in those 164 matches. 1. Glenn McGrath (Australia) Mt: 250 runs: 115 Wkts: 381 BB: 7/15 Glenn McGrath managed to score 115 runs to go with his 381 ODI wickets.(Photo Source: Reuters ) The biggest no.11 of all time, Glenn McGrath may have had the fortune of scoring a 50 in test cricket, but in ODI cricket, he just managed 115 runs in 250 matches.
