The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is currently working on a tournament called ‘The 100’ which is expected to be a domestic tournament involving some of the biggest names in English cricket, so to speak. While there are indeed many who question the 100-ball principle at the moment, the 10-ball an over principle is something that has eventually been quashed by the players themselves.

While there is a certainty of playing with the 100-ball principle, it would also seem as though there is a bit of friction, given the fact that certain cricketers such as Joe Root and Jos Buttler would be involved in England cricket’s flagship tournament. However, there is also a proposal to have the tournament to release the cricketers if and when need be.

The fact that these players would be released for marketing and other purposes of the ECB is certainly a welcome boost for the latter who might have been accused of cynicism and hypocrisy previously if they chose to use their players for marketing stunts done by the board. At the moment, it would seem as though the board is making an attempt to build a new audience for the cricketing format and are hoping that this new format may well ensure the same.

Buttler, Root, and Stokes – most sought cricketers

In the cricketing fraternity, it would seem as though there are several cricketers within the English ranks who are sought-after in domestic cricket across the globe.

With Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and perhaps even David Willey making it big in the Indian Premier League and other such tournaments as well, one can not help but assume that Enland cricket is currently on the upward rise, so to speak.
