CSK, RR move to court over payment issue

  • Suspended IPL franchises CSK and RR have moved to court over the issue of annual fee payment to BCCI, which is to be paid as a part of franchise fees. However, with both the teams not participating in this year’s IPL, CSK and RR are not obliging to pay their fees of Rs 73 Crores and Rs 56 Crores respectively and have moved to court over the issue.

Zaheer Abbas calls for inclusion of Pakistani players in IPL

  • Zaheer Abbas, who has accepted the invitation to attend the IPL final, has called for inclusion of Pakistani players in IPL in the future. Due to strained political relations between the two, Pakistani cricketers have been barred from playing IPL since 2009.
  • “I have accepted the invitation and it is a good opportunity for me to again highlight the importance of resuming bilateral cricket ties although they are obviously subject to government clearances,” Abbas quoted

  • The New Zealand Cricket Board has extended the contract of Mike Hessen upto the conclusion of the 2019 ICC World Cup. Additionally, the contracts of the team’s batting coach Craig McMillan and other coaching staff have been extended.

Jason Gillespie denies coaching post links

  • Jason Gillespie, who has been rumored to take up the post of the Australian Cricket Coach on permanent basis, has denied the links, citing that he has not even contacted CA, let alone take up the post.

  • KKR, the IPL team who has the biggest fan base thanks to its world class players and a larger-than-life owner Bollywood actor SRK. After KKR crashed out of the tournament after a defeat to SRH in the eliminator, fans were visibly distraut. But the attention was caught by the KKR Cheerleaders, who were in tears following the defeat. SRK took upto Twitter to thank the team’s fans and the cheerleaders for their relentless support.

  • AB De Villers single handedly took RCB to the finals with a stunning knock, and De Villers is elated to do it for the team. De Villers, who is often criticized for his failures in crunch matches, has silenced his critics with a stunning 79 in the qualifier.
