‘Totally unethical’ - Umar Gul slams PCB after being snubbed as Balochistan’s assistant Coach

Former and current cricketers criticizing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is certainly not a new story. From nepotism to mismanagement, PCB has faced several allegations over the years. An issue of unprofessionalism in the organization was recently raised by former Pakistan pacer Umar Gul. Taking to Twitter, Gul slammed PCB for replacing him with Raj Hans as Balochistan’s assistant coach without informing him.

The former right-arm pacer revealed that PCB approached him for the role of Balochistan’s assistant coach. In order to get the post, the 37-year-old canceled his other commitments and waited for a week. However, the cricket body gave the role to Raj Hans without informing Gul. Dejected by PCB’s behavior, Gul took to Twitter and expressed his disappointment. He even tagged newly-elected PCB chairman Ramiz Raja in his post.

“I’m disheartened to see professionalism is often missing at the PCB. Having gone through the process & assured by Grant Bradburn that I have been recommended for Assistant Coach of Baluchistan. And without any information, I get to know Raj Hans has been preferred?” Umar tweeted. Interestingly, Gul deleted this post. However, he posted a couple of more tweets slamming the national board.

In another tweet, Gul said he doesn’t wish to be a part of such management. “I will never want to be a part of anything without going through the right process. I have played for Pakistan with pride and will coach with pride. I didn’t need the job but I wanted to help the system and the players with even the slightest cricketing knowledge that I have!” read the post.

For the unversed, Gul is hailed as one of the finest pacers to have played for Pakistan. Representing Pakistan between 2003 and 2016, the speedster represented the national team in 47 Tests, 130 ODIs, and 60 T20Is – scalping 163, 179, and 85 wickets respectively. He brought curtains to his professional career last year.
