2016 was the year of sports biopics in Bollywood. From MS Dhoni, to Azhar and Dangal, the sports lovers enjoyed every bit of it. But the cricket lovers kept asking one question – when would Sachin Tendulkar’s biopic finally hit the theaters?

The trailer of Sachin Tendulkar: A Billion Dreams, based on the life of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has finally received its date of release after suspense of nearly one year.

The movie’s trailer will be launched on April 13, 2017, at 7 Pm. A retweet by Sachin himself confirmed the details. The film will release on 26 May 2016.

Emmy-nominated director James Erskine has directed the movie, and also co-written the script along with writer Siva Ananth. The Academy award winning legend AR Rahman has given the music.

Production of the movie has been done by Ravi Bhagchandka and Carnival Motion Pictures under 200 NotOut Productions. Sachin Tendulkar will be seen making his acting debut. The role of Sachin’s elder brother Nitin will be played by Marathi actor Mayuresh Prem. The teaser of the movie was released in January this year. The movie took three years of cinematic brilliance to finish.

“For so many years, I did whatever I wanted to do and the camera captured that. Suddenly I was asked to do particular things and then the camera captured that, so it was a bit different for me. Believe me, the first option was better… Acting is not something that I dreamt of. Without any doubt, acting was more challenging than playing cricket. I enjoyed playing more”, Sachin told when the teaser was released.

Seems like Sachin is up to a lot of things in the second innings of his life – Parliamentarian, social worker, actor and now a singer. The Master Blaster is not just good with the willow alone.
