There is a war like situation among the fans whenever India and Pakistan meet on the field. The banters have increased even more ever since Pakistan defeated their arch-rivals famously in the Champions Trophy final last year. But all these things don’t affect the players as they are friends off the field and enjoy their time together laughing and smiling. A similar kind of gesture was visible on the field in Dubai yesterday when Yuzvendra Chahal tied Usman Khan‘s shoelace who was struggling to run.
India were in a dominant position at that time thanks to some exceptional bowling performance from them. The noose was tightened by the fast bowlers from the word go and the pressure never relented on Pakistan. Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq failed to deliver and the onus was on the middle-order to deliver. But apart from the partnership between Shoaib Malik and Babar Azam, there was nothing for Pakistan as they crumbled to 162 in the 44th over.
When did the incident happen?
The heart-winning incident took place in the 43rd over of Pakistan’s innings when the last pair of Usman Khan and Mohammad Amir were batting. Yuzvendra Chahal was delivering the seventh over of his spell and that is when Usman found it tough to run with his shoelace unsettled. To tie it himself, he would’ve had to remove his gloves.
But then the friendly nature of Chahal came to the fore, as he knelt down kindly and helped his counterpart. This was such a lovely gesture from him that the leggie reminded everyone that India and Pakistan are not the enemies and they fight sportingly against each other only on the field.
Nevertheless, India didn’t spare their opponents when it came to the cricket match and thumped them by eight wickets to end the group stage at the top of the points table.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the incident:
