Virat Kohli successfully completes yet another breakfast routine at the Feroz Shah Kotla as he notches his 6th double century in some style. The Indian skipper continued the domination on day 2 and took no significant time to get to the landmark. Incidentally, this happens to be his second double century of the series and the second in a row and by doing so, joins quite an elite list.
Resuming at an overnight score of 156, Virat Kohli wastes no time to get going. His partner Rohit Sharma looked solid as well and the duo asserted more pressure on the poor Lankan bowlers, who were helplessly looking at each other as these both kept going. Taking the second new ball didn’t work at all as the scoring rate only went a notch higher because of that.
He played some cheeky shots on day 2 and the most mesmerizing of them was the little dab towards third-man, which was bisected between the 2nd slip and gully, intentionally and perfectly. A batting masterclass was on exhibition from the skipper and the Sunday morning in Delhi just got more entertaining with the lad firing a breathtaking inning.
Rohit and Kohli aim for a massive total
Quite certainly, this duo has given the fans so many memorable partnerships in the ODIs and now, they are doing it in the white jerseys. Rohit played a couple of shots which left everyone stoked. Especially the cover-drive he played off Lakmal, just leaning towards the ball slightly and the lazy elegance making it look majestic was one of the talking points of the day.
With India closing in on 500, it is certain that they are looking for a gigantic first innings total. If Kohli gets anywhere close to 250 before the Tea break, he will definitely look to go for the triple and why not? There is enough time to get there and even if they play the whole 2nd day, they might have enough time to bowl Sri Lanka out twice.

6th double hundred for Virat in less than 500 days. Special players make it count and Virat Kohli is extra special. Amazing intent right from the beginning.#INDvSL

Back to back 200s for Kohli. Called it when he had 46. Even allowing for Sri Lanka’s attack, it’s extraordinary. #INDvSL

Six double hundreds in all of 17 months. Making batting look ridiculously easy. Can't be right? If it was, the others would stack up the same numbers. Modern Master. #INDvSL #RunMachine @imVkohli ????

Till 2016, Virat Kohli didn't have a single double century. Now he has six. Shows you that great players make a good phase really count.

How do you even praise Virat Kohli anymore? I mean, what words don’t look like they’re understatements? 6th double century and the biggest takeaway from that is the fact that he treats every opposition the same. Bullies them all, schools them all. What a star. ❤️ #IndvSL

If Virat Kohli scores a triple, DDCA will finally edit the script on the Sehwag Gate – trust them to still ignore Karun Nair though. #IndvsSL

For all those belittling Virat Kohli's Double hundreds vs SL being against a weak attacks.. why aren't the Rahanes and Rahuls too scoring them then? A classy batsman makes hay while the sun shines… the rest can continue to whine!
