The ongoing historic 500th between India and New Zealand became more memorable for India fans after India’s ace off-spinner Ravi Ashwin became the 2nd fastest bowler to reach the 200th Test wicket.

Ashwin’s already glorious career saw him achieve yet another wonderful milestone when he took the wicket of Black Caps skipper Kane Williamson in the last session of the Day four. Williamson’s wicket saw him complete his 200 wickets mark and made him the second fastest ever and the fastest Indian to reach the milestone.

Australia’s yesteryear leg spinner Claire Grimmett leads the chart, reaching the mark in just 36 Tests. The feat also saw him break into the top ten of the all-time list of highest wicket takers for India. He currently stands at ninth position in the list which is led by his current coach Anil Kumble.

Ashwin has leapfrogged some of the biggest names in the history of cricket. Australian fast bowling great Dennis Lillee and Waqar Younis follow him at the third and the fourth position in the list while Dale Steyn is at fifth on the list. Other greats like Shane Warne, Ian Botham and Stuart MacGill also are a part of this list.

Ravichandran Ashwin completely dominated the Kiwis. Chasing an improbable target of 434 runs to win, The Blacks Caps were rocked by the early inroads Ashwin made in the batting order.

The fourth innings began with his two-wicket burst where snapped both the openers Tom Latham and Martin Guptill in the same over. India quickly gained an upper hand and Ashwin stood just one wicket away from his 200 wicket milestone. He then added Williamson to his kitty to put India on the driver’s seat and also complete his milestone.
