Shahid Afridi and Pakistan came into this game looking at the bottom of the barrel, after losing their game to India and New Zealand and needing a big win against Australia to keep their hopes of making it through to the semi-finals alive.
Pakistan knew Australia is always a big challenge; Afridi lost the toss and Australia decided to bat first on a pitch that offered good bounce and pace to bowlers and speed to the batsmen to hit their shots without much power.
Pakistan rested Mohammad Irfan and brought in Imad Wasim. Their start was good with Wahab Riaz picking the wickets of Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja without much damage done to the scoreboard. But then Aussie skipper Steven Smith (61*) and Glenn Maxwell (30 off 18 balls) took the game away from Pakistanis. In the last overs, Shane Watson, who was playing his last match, blasted 44 runs off 21 balls to propel Australia to 193/4.
Pakistan’s bowlers were clueless with Mohd Sami going for 53 runs and Mohd Amir going for 39 runs. Pakistan’s batsmen came out with the intent of giving Australia a run for their money, but James Faulkner broke their middle order with a 5 wicket haul. Apart from Khalid Latif (46) and Shoaib Malik (40*), no other batsmen looked like anchoring the innings and seeing it through for Pakistan.
Afridi had said that he will take a decision on his career once he reaches Pakistan, but it seems like that decision might be made for him. Here is the Twitter reaction for Afridi’s possible last match for Pakistan.

If there was a stat for most dismissals in under 10 deliveries, Afridi would bag 1st position even in 2116. #AUSvPAK #WT20

A mystery, an enigma, at times frustrating, at times wonderful- a cricketer who was one of his kind.
That's Shahid Afridi for me

Never understood the Afridi hype. Career has shown he's been a far better bowler than Batsman.
