Umesh Yadav was yet again in the spotlight after he received some social media bashing. The reason was not his bowling. Yadav did well with the ball, taking figures of 3/67. But, it was his reckless approach while batting which attracted sharp criticism.
Indians were losing wickets in clusters after the loss of Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan. The hope of chasing down the target was flickering after the middle order crumbled. India had completely lost its track but the achieving the target was still possible. Ravindra Jadeja was the only mainstream batsman in the middle and needed someone who could stand at the other end firmly.
Yadav came in the 46th over after Bhuvneshwar Kumar was dismissed. The fast bowlers, being a tail-ender should have opted to rotate the strike to Jadeja. However, he was in a hurry to score fast and wildly swung at every ball. However, he couldn’t connect a single attempt and was getting constantly beaten.
Yadav survived a chance in the 47th over after Kane Richardson dropped a simple catch off the bowling of Mitchell Marsh. Even after surviving once, he kept swinging hard only to smash air. However, this attitude did not make any difference as he was sent back to the pavilion quickly in the same over.
His mindless tactic annoyed the India fans who were already upset with India’s shocking collapse. The visitors lost their fourth consecutive match. Australian bowlers scripted an amazing victory after they bowled India out for 323 runs and helped their team win the match by 25 runs.
