Second win on the trot for Sunrisers Hyderabad and they have got their mojo back! Gujarat Titans suffered their first defeat of IPL 2022 as Kane Williamson’s men were too good for them. The game had its fair share of twists and turns as GT were in the hunt for the best part. However, Williamson’s composed knock at the top meant SRH recorded an eight-wicket win and added two more points to their tally.

Earlier in the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bowl at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. GT got some bonus runs early on as veteran pacer delivered a 17-run first over with 11 runs coming via wides. However, tables were turned soon as in-form opener Shubman Gill was dismissed after scoring just seven.

Matthew Wade and Sai Sudharsan couldn’t contribute much either, scoring 19 and 11 respectively. The repair work was then done by skipper Hardik Pandya and Abhinav Manohar as the duo added 51 runs for the fifth wicket. While Hardik took the backseat and anchored the innings with a half-century, Manohar was the aggressor as he played some delightful shots all over the park. As a result, GT posted 162/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Kane Williamson’s well-paced fifty sent GT on backfoot

In reply, SRH got off to a steady start with openers Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson adding 64 runs for the opening wicket. While the former was dismissed for a quickfire 42, the skipper carried on and brought up his maiden half-century of the season. There was a slight twist in the tale when Hardik Pandya dismissed his counterpart in 17th over.

However, Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram played sensible cricket, ensuring there’s no drama in the end overs. The Orange Army eventually crossed the line in 19.1 overs, clinching the contest by eight wickets. While SRH remained at the eighth place despite this win, GT slipped down to the fifth place.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitter reacted to SRH’s comprehensive triumph:
