Twitter Reactions: Amit Mishra arrested, released on bail: Amit Mishra, the Indian leggie was arrested and released on bail on a personal bond at the Cubbon Park Police Station in Bangalore on Tuesday, 27 October.

Mishra, who flew down to Bangalore from Mumbai after the final ODI against South Africa on Sunday, was arrested following charges of assault slapped on him last week by a lady friend at a hotel in Bangalore. Earlier, sections of the media had reported that the 34-year-old film producer Vandana Jain was to withdraw the case.

The said assault is supposed to have happened during India’s conditioning camp in Bangalore in preparation for the ongoing series against South Africa. According to the complaint lodged by the woman, there was a verbal fight between the two and quickly escalated with Mishra throwing at her a kettle. Mishra arrived at the Cubbon Park police station at 11 am and spent close to three hours with Ashok Nagar police inspector Vijaya Hadagali.

Mishra was booked under Section 328 of the Indian Penal Code for causing hurt with intent to commit an offence, and Section 354 of the IPC for assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty.  Since both are bailable sections, he was released on a station bail.

Mishra is part of the Indian Test squad due to play the 4 Test series against South Africa starting November 5 in Mohali.
