The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, Anurag Thakur, recently expressed his views about resuming the bilateral cricket ties between India and Pakistan. He also said that there is no need to pay much attention towards what people are saying about the India-Pakistan series on the social media.

Over the last couple of months, there has been strong opposition to the resumption of cricket relations between India and Pakistan on the social media. But Anurag Thakur, who is also BJP’s Member of Parliament from Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh and also president of the BJP’s Yuva Morcha, said that the comments made on social media do not necessarily reflect the mood of the entire cricket loving nation.

“I think when it comes to Pakistan, it’s not that easy to take calls. And five years back, there was no role of social media. Today you see a lot of reaction from social media, but you still can’t say it’s the sense of the entire country. At times you can’t go only by social media; you have to look at the interests of the nation,” he quoted in an interview with The Indian Express.

But as soon as he made these remarks, he started trending on twitter. Much against his pleasure, these tweets were not in favor of the BCCI Secretary but all slamming his remarks.

#ShameOnAnuragThakur started trending on Twitter as twiteratis from all across the nation started slamming the BJP Yuva Morcha’s leader. Interestingly, it was Anurag Thakur, who earlier the year, was totally against playing Pakistan in a bilateral series. His sudden u-turn certainly did not please many.

Here are the outrageous Twitter Reactions on the trending topic #ShameOnAnuragThakur:
