In yet another exhilarating day of cricket, the Indian batsmen managed to bat out the whole day and come closer to the Aussie total. The hosts were 360/6 at stumps on Day 3 with the trail being 91 runs as of now.
India resumed from their overnight score of 120/1. Murali Vijay seemed to be in sublime touch as he went on to register a half-century on his 50th Test. However just when it seemed there was a big knock coming in, Vijay played in what was an actual brain fade shot. It wasn’t a pleasing sight watching him get stumped just at the stroke of lunch.
After lunch, it was Cheteshwar Pujara who took over the Indian innings. Captain Virat Kohli who came out to bat despite injury continued his poor run in the series. On the other hand, Pujara who began slowly has accelerated gears and went on to score a magnificent hundred, becoming the first Indian to score a century in this series so far.
While he stayed firm at one end, his partners couldn’t capitalise on their starts. Ajinkya Rahane edged one to Wade while Karun Nair completely misjudged a Hazlewood delivery, resulting in his stumps knocked over. Ravichandran Ashwin whose been undergoing a rough patch with the bat continued to disappoint.
Pat Cummins made superb use of the short delivery and kept surprising the Indian batsmen. His superb bowling resulted in the dismissals of Rahane, Ashwin and the dangerous Kohli. At 328/6, Australia seemed to have gained an edge. However, Wriddhiman Saha batted well with a gritty 18(42)* alongside Pujara 130(328)* to make sure there was no further damage in the day.
India ended the day scoring 360 runs at the loss of 6 wickets. At stumps on Day 3, the match still seems well poised and can be anyone’s game from here. While India’s hopes rest upon how Pujara and the rest of the lower order bats, Australia would be preferring to topple the Indian batting order sooner.
Here are some of the social reactions that took place during the course of Day 3
@MClarke23 @MitchJohnson398 @davidwarner31 how will you now justify @stevesmith49 mocking to #Kohli on his injury! Low life of Aussies!

@imrishav_ get your facts right, it was maxwell. Didn’t jadaja & Ishant mock Smith repeatedly in 1st or 2nd test for his mannerisms??

It's really quite sad listening to Manjrekar on Pujara – just can't stop at finding lacks. Next, he'll say his nose is too big.#IndvsAus
