A spirited Sri Lanka side came on top against a competitive Indian team in their second super four match of the 2022 T20 Asia Cup played at the Dubai International Stadium on September 6 (Tuesday).
Talking about the match, the host nation won the toss and decided to bowl first on a good-looking batting track. Team Sri Lanka got some early wickets and pushed the Indian team. Opening batter KL Rahul and former Indian skipper Virat Kohli failed to get going.
Permanent skipper Rohit Sharma stroked an excellent fifty with the bat while his Mumbai Indians squadmate Suryakumar Yadav also made a decent contribution. However, the host nation made a strong comeback as Sharma's dismissal triggered a slide as India added 63 runs after being 110 for three in the 13th over when the skipper got out. The Men in Blue finished with a score of 170+ runs in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing a score of 170+ runs in their allotted 20 overs. Both Sri Lanka openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis stroked excellent fifties. The Men in Blue managed to scalp some wickets in the middle overs, but skipper Shanaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa were excellent with the bat for their team.
The Men in Blue had the match in their grasp but veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar leaked runs towards with the end with a daunting task left for the young pacer Arshdeep Singh to save seven runs in the final over. The left-arm pacer from Punjab tried his level best in the last over but the host nation held their nerves in the end and completed a resounding victory over the Men in Blue.
Team India is now in a spot of bother and it is very unlikely that they will manage to reach the final match of another all-important tournament.
