IPL 2024: PBKS vs SRH Match 23 Highlights: Unmissable video recap, turning points, match analysis, stats, and more

Sunrisers Hyderabad registered their second consecutive win in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) as they beat Punjab Kings in Match 23 on Tuesday, April 09 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh. After being put in to bat first, SRH posted a good score of 182/9 in their allotted 20 overs courtesy of a half-century from Nitish Reddy.

In reply, Punjab came agonizingly close to chasing down the target with Shashank Singh once again fighting till the end. They eventually finished their innings on 180/6 in 20 overs and lost the match by two runs. Following their win, SRH maintained the fifth spot on the points table with six points from five games, while Punjab also maintained sixth position with four points from five games.

1. Arshdeep Singh stars with the ball

The left-arm seamer was the pick of the bowlers for his side as he scalped wickets at crucial junctures of the game. Arshdeep began with the big wicket of Travis Head in the powerplay and further got rid of Aiden Markam in the same over. The 25-year-old further returned in the 17^th over to dismiss both set batters, Abdul Samad and Nitish Reddy, ending their massive partnership. He finished with figures of 4/29 in four overs.

2. Nitish Reddy rises to limelight with a classy fifty

The 20-year-old walked to the crease with his side reeling at 27/2 after 3.4 overs. However, Reddy was unfazed by the precarious situation and took on the PBKS bowlers. The right-handed batter registered his first half-century of IPL career and played a magnificent innings of 64 (37) with the help of four fours and five sixes.

3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar vanishes Punjab’s top order with the new ball

The right-arm seamer began SRH’s defence in a perfect manner by bowling a maiden first-up. He later got rid of Prabhsimran Singh in his second over as he holed out to point. Bhuvneshwar further got the big scalp of Bhuvneshwar Kumar in his third over as he was perfectly set up for a stumping dismissal. The SRH seamer finished with figures of 2/32 in four overs.
