The inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 continues to disappoint Royal Challengers Bangalore and their fanbase. The Smriti Mandhana-led side struggles to register their first win of the tournament. They faced Delhi Capitals in their first game, which they lost, and following that, they took on Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants, and suffered defeats there as well.

In the 8th match of the competition, Royal Challengers Bangalore went up against UP Warriorz. Batting first, RCB faced yet another collapse as Smriti Mandhana once again failed to score runs. Ellyse Perry and Sophie Devine provided the side with some hope as they scored 52 and 36 runs, respectively.

Sophie Ecclestone and Deepti Sharma were fabulous with the ball as they took four and three wickets respectively to dismantle RCB's batting line-up. After the first innings, RCB managed to notch up 138 runs on the board, setting up an average target for the run chase.

UP Warriorz came in with the bat with pure attacking intent. The in-form side did not lose a single wicket as Devika Vaidya and skipper Alyssa Healy helped their side register a comprehensive victory. As a result, UP Warriorz won the game by 10 wickets.

Vaidya scored an unbeaten 36 off 31 deliveries, whereas Healy scored a fabulous knock of 96* off just 47 deliveries, where she hit 18 fours and a six. UP Warriorz managed to chase down the 139-run target in just 13 overs to win their second game of the season.

Following the game, Royal Challengers Bangalore find themselves in last place in the points table with zero points after four games. Whereas, UP Warriorz sit in third place with four points in three games. The woes of RCB continue, as they have lost every game that they have played this season.

The franchise will be looking to make some major changes if they want any chance at registering their first win of the season. Furthermore, questions over Smriti Mandhana's tactics could be raised as the team struggles to win even one game.
