India got out of jail in the second Test match of the series against Bangladesh to complete a thrilling victory by three wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer rescued India with a magnificent 71-run stand for the eighth wicket to complete a brilliant series victory for KL Rahul's side.

Bangladesh completed a miraculous comeback in the Test series after a spirited fightback from the Bangladeshi lower-order batters gave them a fighting chance on the third day of the second Test. India were set a target of 145 runs, a target that turned into a daunting prospect thanks to an inspired bowling spell by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

The mercurial all-rounder got rid of Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Virat Kohli to send the Indian innings in a tailspin. Axar Patel's promotion up the batting order ensured that visitors had the likes of Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer at their disposal even after losing four wickets on just 37 runs.

But the hosts started the penultimate day of the Test series like they finished the third day, removing the nightwatchman Jaydev Undakat inside the first 30 mins. But it was the massive scalp of the ever-so-dangerous Rishabh Pant by Mehidy Hasan, that sent jitters into the Indian dressing room.

Ashwin and Iyer step up for the visitors to complete a thrilling victory in the second Test

With the hero of the first innings back in the hut, India were in a precarious position, and things went from bad to worse for the visitors after the well-set Axar Patel was castled by Mehidy to bring Bangladesh on the cusp of an unprecedented victory. Bangladesh were just three wickets away from a series-leveling victory after their star off-spinner's glittering five-for.

However, there was another twist in the tale. Shreyas Iyer, who was one of the protagonists for India along with Pant in the first innings, stood in the way of the hosts yet again. Bangladesh threw everything at him, but the Indian batting ace, who has had a brilliant start to his red-ball career was determined to drag his side over the line.

Ravichandran Ashwin, the senior partner from the other end, supported him valiantly as the duo registered an unbeaten 71-run partnership, the 2nd highest by India in the fourth innings of a Test match, to complete a thrilling series victory for India.

Here is how Twitter reacted to India's narrow escape in the second Test against Bangladesh:
