Twitter Reactions: Danielle Wyatt scores her second T20I ton, thumps team India

English cricketer Danielle Wyatt is a very popular namein the women’s cricket. Also, she has been in the news for her social media skills over the last few years. But more recently, she showed that she is not only good with her words but also with her batting skills. The England Women all-rounder smashed her second T20I ton in the third match of the ongoing tri-series in India.

Wyatt’s brilliant effort helped the England Women beat the India Women by 7 wickets in the match. Interestingly, this is the second win for the England side in the series. They had previously beaten Australia Women in the previous game of the series. Also, the defeat in the match meant the second defeat for the hosts, India Women, in the series.

Coming to the knock, Danielle Wyatt opened the innings for England Women in the game. While she kept losing partners from the other end, she continued with her exceptional work from her end. She almost singlehandedly won the match for her side. England were chasing a huge total of 198 to win the game. And Wyatt responded with sheer brilliance.

She reached her century in the 15th over the game and ensured that she stayed along for a little more time to put her side in a winning position. She was unfortunate to have not been able be at the crease when England wrapped up the game. She perished in the 17th over of the game.

During her whirlwind knock, Danielle Wyatt scored 124 runs off just 64 deliveries. She hit 15 boundaries and as many as 5 sixes in her innings. Earlier in the game, India Women had posted 198/4 in their stipulated 20 overs. It was Smriti Mandhana’s 76 and Mithali Raj’s 53 that had set the tone for a high score for the hosts. With the ball, Wyatt bowled just one over and conceded 12 runs.

Commenting on the knock, Wyatt remarked that it was a special one for her. She became only the second cricketer to score two T20I tons. She remarked that her father was there to watch her play, and hence, the knock was a very special one. “This hundred was quite special because my dad has flown all the way to see my knock. I’ve worked really hard with my coaches. Fitness was a big factor, kept pushing myself. I would like to try and keep going from here,” Danielle Wyatt quoted after the game.
