It was a sorry state for Delhi Daredevils in the 36th match of IPL 10 as they were shot out for their lowest IPL score against the Kings XI Punjab at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. It was a sensational bowling performance by Punjab and it was mainly due to the exceptional opening spell by Sandeep Sharma which allowed the hosts to bowl them out for as low as 67.
The procession started in the very first over with the wicket of comeback man Sam Billings with a beautiful inswinger. It took the outside edge and was safely pouched by Wriddhiman Saha behind the stumps. In the very next over he sent back in form batsman Sanju Samson as the right-hander attempted to whip the ball towards the leg side.
Sandeep plucked a sensational return catch to send back Shreyas Iyer as DD was reduced to 22/3. The wicket kept on tumbling one after the other as Axar Patel breached through the defence of Sanju Samson with a well tossed up delivery. They were unable to build the partnerships which never allowed them to claw their way back into the match.
Glenn Maxwell also bowled pretty well and dismissed hard-hitter Rishabh Pant with a straighter delivery. It went on with the arms and struck Pant on his pads. The procession continued as Axar came back to remove the dangerous Chris Morris. It was an exceptional display of bowling as DD was totally left scratching their head as they were reduced to 60/8.
Sandeep Sharma eventually finished with exceptional figures of 4/20 in 4 overs while Axar Patel also returned with impressive figures of 2/22. Varun Aaron who came to bowl in the 14th over dismissed Corey Anderson with his very first delivery and added one more to his kitty by removing Mohammed Shami. Maxwell was pretty economical during his spell and finished with 1/12 in his 4 overs.

If Delhi Daredevils batsmen aspire to be Delhi CM some day, they can simply say, the pitch is tampered. #KXIPvDD

37/6 in 10 overs. And so far, Karun Nair has been the only true DD batsman – If DD stands for Double Digits.— Ramesh Srivats (@rameshsrivats) April 30, 2017

If RCB and DD play a Test, it will end in two days every single time, no matter where you play. #IPL

I have a real soft spot for @DelhiDaredevils as I had my best time at that franchise. Their demise through the years saddens me!
