Twitter Reactions: England rack up 198 on a feather bed

The County Ground in Bristol hosting the third and final T20I between England and India is like a dream for the batsmen. Though there was some grass on it and looks like a pitch that would seam and had something in it for the bowler. The moment Jason Roy and Jos Buttler walked out to bat the ball was just flying off to the boundary after touching the willow. All the English batters relished the opportunity to bat first and they posted 198 runs on the board for the loss of 9 wickets. Virat Kohli won the toss this time and elected to bowl first. Chasing on this kind of a ground where the average dimensions are 60m is the best option as no score looks safe. They dropped Kuldeep Yadav while Bhuvneshwar Kumar was out with an injury thus two new pacers Deepak Chahar and Siddarth Kaul were included in the XI. Chahar was making his debut while Kaul is featuring in his second T20I. Both the openers enjoyed batting with field restrictions, they had to just get the ball away from the fielders in the 30-yard circle and it was a boundary. Buttler failed to connect one from Kaul in the 8th over and they lost the first wicket on 94. Roy played some exquisite shots in his 31-ball 67 hit four boundaries and seven sixes. He was dismissed for 67 and became Chahar’s maiden international wicket. While India’s lone spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was maintained an economy of 7.5 he went wicket-less, it was Hardik Pandya who was busy picking wickets. The medium pacer was hit for plenty – 22 runs in his first over but made a really good comeback using his variations, the cutters and short of the length stuff in his following overs. Pandya dismissed the dangerman Alex Hales for 30, Eoin Morgan for 6, Ben Stokes for 14 and Jonny Bairstow for 25 to finish with figures of 4/38 in his 4 overs. It is Pandya’s best bowling figures in any form of cricket – international or domestic. India to some extent managed to pull things back and, on this wicket, 199 is a chasable target. Most Indian batsmen who like to hit down the ground will enjoy batting here and will find the boundary more often than not.
