In the first semi-final at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, New Zealand took on England in a quest for a spot in the finals. Eoin Morgan won the toss as the English skipper chose to field first. Martin Guptill and Adam Milne came back for the Kiwis while the Brits came in unchanged.

For the Kiwis, Guptill got out early despite a good start. However, Kane Williamson 32 (28) and Colin Munro 46(32) build a solid partnership and threatened to take away the game. However, Moeen Ali struck as it triggered a batting collapse from the Kiwis. The England bowlers then tightened the screws as New Zealand could only manage 153/8 in their quota of 20 overs.

Ben Stokes was the standout bowler taking 3 wickets and also effected a brilliant run out. Jordan too bowled well as other bowlers as they scripted a turnaround in the last 10 overs.

For England, Jason Roy displayed some magnificent power hitting as he smashed 78 runs from 44 balls with the help of 11 boundaries and 2 sixes. Hales supported him well as both of them batted New Zealand out of the game. There was a slight chance for the Kiwis to snatch the game away after Ish Sodhi picked up consecutive wickets.

However, Joe Root 27(22)* and Jos Buttler 32(17)* made sure they reached the target without any further hiccups. England went on to win the match by 7 wickets and reached the WT20 finals for the first time since 2010.

Twitter kept everyone entertained with some superb tweets, From lauding Colin Munro and Jason Roy to trolling NZ bowlers and Morgan. Here are some of the Twitter reactions that appeared during the first semi-finals of the World T20:
