Twitter Reactions: Gambhir Tiwary exchange dirty spat during Ranji Trophy game: The Delhi v Bengal Ranji Trophy match at the Firoz Shah Kotla stadium in the national capital was going along well till, Delhi skipper Gautam Gambhir and his Bengal counterpart Manoj Tiwary got involved in a heated exchange which soon turned into one of the ugliest on-field altercations we have seen of late.

Both the players, who have played international cricket for India, were also team mates in the IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise. The incident happened during the 8th over of Bengal’s batting innings, Tiwary walked out to bat expecting the spinners to continue and thus wore just a cap, but after taking guard realized the over was to be bowled by the pacer, and thus he asked his teammates to get him a helmet.

Delhi fielders had the feeling that the Bengal skipper was doing it intentionally to consume time, and this is what provoked Gambhir to charge towards Tiwary who also retaliated. The brawl got uglier when Gauti pushed the umpire aside who had come to mediate and settle the matter down.
