After Day 3 in Cape Town was washed out due to persistent rain, South Africa resumed the innings today at 65/2. As the pitch was completely covered the previous day, the moisture surely played a role and assisted the Indian pacers. They staged a complete turnaround in the first session. Hashim Amla was dismissed first up as Rohit Sharma held on to a splendid catch. Kagiso Rabada also got out soon as Mohammed Shami produced a sensational spell in the morning. The right-arm pacer found his touch with a couple of wickets.
Soon after, it was Jasprit Bumrah’s chance to make it count. Bumrah accounted for the wickets of skipper Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock in consecutive overs. The Proteas were reduced to 92/6 with AB de Villiers being the last renowned batsman at the crease. The Indian bowlers were fantastic as they didn’t allow the South Africans to settle. Vernon Philander was trapped in front of the stumps by Shami as the South Africans were left reeling at 95/7.
Keshav Maharaj tried to irritate the Indian bowlers for a while. That’s when Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck. He later got Morne Morkel’s wicket as well. AB de Villiers who was left with no option but to hit out was dismissed by Bumrah for the second time in the Test match.
The South African innings was bundled for a total of 130 runs. The Indians were set a target of 208 runs to register a victory in Cape Town. Shami was the pick amongst the bowlers with figures of 3/38. Bumrah also shared three wickets. Both Bhuvneshwar and Hardik Pandya got a couple of wickets each.
Twitter was wholly behind the Indian bowlers. There was praise for Shami and Bumrah for the character they displayed. Even Pandya and Bhuvi were lauded.
Here we have some of the Twitter reactions for India’s wonderful bowling display this morning:

Look at the bounce Bhuvi got – 1st ball. CT track… unpredictable.
— Bharath Ramaraj (@Fancricket12) January 8, 2018
Did Bhuvi go soft on an injured Steyn? What stopped him from bouncing him?#SAvsIND

India need more fire from Mohammed Shami today along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and rightly so as this is the day which will decide the result of the match more or less. #INDvSA

You beauty Bhuvneshwar Kumar. <3
What good line, what good length and gets a reward. Eight wickets have gone. One more left (knowing Steyn is injured and cannot come to bat). #SAvIND

Shastri sir. Had a chat with Shami and Bumrah. Instant results, not Instagram results like Kumble. ?

Just the start India wanted, especially since it has come off Mohd Shami who looked a bit sluggish so far. Will cause much disquiet in the SA camp
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) January 8, 2018
Shami is bowling at 143-45, in the channel, making it talk off the seam. Did we hear anybody say “raw pace, fearsome, unplayable” etc, terms they always use for rival pacers? Need more fast bowlers as commentators not just batsmen

All said and done, perhaps time to acknowledge the decision to pick Bumrah as a pretty good one. It took some guts but that was Kohli backing a hunch… that's what good captains do.
— Ashish Magotra (@clutchplay) January 8, 2018
Bumrah and Shami have bowled as well as anyone can on this surface. Nice to see Shami charging in.
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) January 8, 2018
This Bumrah brute reminds one of the one Sreesanth bowled at Kallis in Durban 2010 #IndvsSA

Hey @officialCSA , just a gentle reminder, this is where we start choking 🙂#SAvInd

Bowling them out for 130 is moral victory after they were 65/2. Hope we chase this down now to make it a famous victory. Come on boys. 208 is the number. #SAvIND

?? inch to 100. Everything on the shoulders of AB de Villiers now. Again.
Shami this morning: 7-2-13-3
Bumrah this morning: 5-1-11-2#SAvIND— Cricbuzz (@cricbuzz) January 8, 2018
Crazy bowling.
Crazy.
Indian bowlers took 78 runs for 10 wickets.
Abroad.
That's close to Bobby Jindal becoming President of Amrika.#SAvIND— Sorabh Pant (@hankypanty) January 8, 2018
The Indian pacers have bowled way better than South African pacers. The Indian pacers have earned their wickets with some unplayable deliveries. On the other hand, the SA pacers were helped by some poor shot making by the Indian batsmen. 10 on 10 for the Indian seamers. #SAvIND

The ball that Bumrah bowled to get du Plessis out was one for the ages. Haven't seen an Indian bowler get bounce from a ball as full as that.
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) January 8, 2018
One of the best bowling sessions for India outside Asia in a long long time…Bumrah-Shami have hit both the deck & SA very hard. Take a Bow ?♂️ #SAvIND

DRS discussion..
When other bowlers bowl,
Captain: Edge laga?
When Bumrah bowls,
Captain: Line cross kiya? #SAvIND
— Sameer Allana (@HitmanCricket) January 8, 2018
This is the first time that four Indian pacers took at least 3 wickets in the same Test match. #SAvIND
