Twitter Reactions: Its advantage England after day 1 of the 3rd Ashes Test: After the Lord’s test match, coming to the Birmingham test match, the Ashes 2015 was squared 1-1, all set to revoke the treasured memories of Ashes 2005 Edgbaston test where cricket had witnessed the closest Ashes game ever. As it happened the Australian skipper Michael Clarke opted to bat after winning the toss on an overcast day. But, the majesty of English trio namely Anderson, Broad and Finn proved too hot to handle for the Aussie batters much to the plight of their hopes in the match. Jimmy Anderson was the chief destructor as he wrecked the Australian innings with his six-fer and out of nowhere Australia was bundled out for 136 runs.
At the toss, if you would have asked Cook about such an outcome, he would have grabbed it with both hands. In reply, the heroics of splendid Ian Bell swayed away the Australian bowlers as his knock of 53 runs in 56 balls was like hammering on the nail which ruled out any possibility of the Aussies making early in-roads in the English batting line-up. The day ended with English team lying in a comfortable position at 133-3, trailing by just 3 runs.
