The Jamaica Tallawahs are proving out to be a force to reckon with in this year’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL). They are going from strength to strength as they registered their third consecutive win in the tournament by defeating Chris Gayle’s St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by a significant 47 runs to gain another two important points. Also, the team continues to lead the points table with six points from three matches.

The Jamaican team will now fly to Lauderhill in Florida to play a few games over there before coming back to the Windies islands. On the other hand, the Patriots are now last second on the points table with one win and one loss from two encounters. They now have some time off (five days) before they play their next game.

Ross Taylor joins the party

A new match-winner has been emerging for the Tallawahs every time. This time around, it was Ross Taylor who came to the party after being promoted up the batting order. After being put into bat first, the hosts had a great start to their innings courtesy of a 24-ball 49 from Kennar Lewis. Wicket-keeper Glenn Phillips played the anchor with 41 runs off 38 balls. But, as the side was cruising along nicely, Sandeep Lamichhane picked two wickets in the same over to put the hosts on the backfoot.

However, Ross Taylor, who came in next, played some great cricket and adapted beautifully to the situation of the game. He changed gears at the right times as he remained unbeaten on 51 off 35 deliveries. Andre Russell could only manage 10 runs off nine balls and eventually, the Tallawahs put up 178 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs.

Clinical Tallawahs bowlers accomplish the job

In the chase, Chris Gayle took time initially to set the ball rolling with the bat but was dismissed after scoring 24 runs off 25 balls. The other batsmen failed to get going in the chase and the Patriots’ bowlers kept chipping in with regular wickets. Mahmudullah with 22 runs was the next leading scorer in the innings. Krishmar Santokie, Adam Zampa and Imad Wasim picked two wickets each as the visitors couldn’t give the home team a run for their money.

Twitterati was happy to see Russell’s team doing so well while they felt bad for the ‘Universal Boss’- Chris Gayle. Ross Taylor and Adam Zampa were commended for their good performances in this game. Sandeep Lamichhane was yet again in the midst of all the conversations for his excellent show.
