Finally, Karachi Kings managed to get some points on board after eight continuous defeats. They recorded a 22-run win against Lahore Qalandars in the 26th game of the PSL 2022 . They had suffered a lot of criticism after not being able to register a single win in the season, and the changes made in the line-up certainly worked in their favour. Notably, Karachi Kings have already been out of contention for a playoff spot but they still have pride to play for.

Earlier in the match, the Karachi Kings won the toss and opted to bat first at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore. In form seamer, Zaman Khan got the better of Joe Clarke early for just four while Sharjeel Khan soon followed him in the third over as well after being trapped LBW by Shaheen Afridi. Skipper Babar Azam tried to stitch some partnership going alongside Qasim Akram and Rohail Nazir, but Babar perished for a patient 32-ball 39.

Wickets kept falling around for the Karachi side as Rashid Khan and Zaman, both picked up four wickets each and it was the 28-run cameo of Lewis Gregory in just 16 deliveries that got the Karachi side to a decent total of 149. Haris Rauf and David Wiese had an off day with the ball while all the other bowlers chipped in with wickets.

In reply, Lahore Qalandars faced a major setback with the return of Abdullah Shafique and Fakhar Zaman within the fourth over as Mir Hamza delivered a dream spell at the start. Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Hafeez got the innings going with a steady partnership, but the former was dismissed by Imad Wasim for 13. Philip Salt never found his rhythm with the bat and was eventually dismissed for eight by Chris Jordan.

A mix-up then cost the big wicket of Mohammad Hafeez by a run-out and the Lahore side was reduced to 64 for five. Harry Brook and David Wiese kept the Lahore side in the game with a 55 -run partnership and looked like taking the game away from Babar Azam-led side. Hamza came in for another spell and he immediately repaid the faith by breaking the important partnership and dismissing Brook and Wiese in a quick span of time.

With 25 runs needed off the last over, Jordan bowled a terrific over to concede just two runs and ensured Karachi their first win of the season. Despite being out of contention for a playoff spot, the Karachi side has made a statement and will be looking to end their last game on a winning note.
