Twitter Reactions: Kings XI Punjab destroy DD in a one-sided affair

67 all out in 17.1 overs was just better than RCB’s dismal show against KKR to be the worst batting show by any team in this edition of the IPL.

The PCA Stadium, Mohali wicket didn’t appear to have any ghosts in it but as the Delhi Daredevils batting team walked out to bat it suddenly felt like they were batting on a land mine. Local boy Sandeep Sharma playing on his home ground wreak havoc with the new ball as Sanju Samson, Sam Billing and Shreyas Iyer walked back with single digit scores.

In 5 overs they were 3 for 22 with the end of the power play the spinners came in and Axar Patel struck on the first ball of his spell to send back Karun Nair DD’s stand-in skipper for 11. Kings XI Punjab skipper Glenn Maxwell brought himself in as the second spinner and found success as well. The two spinners bowled 8 overs gave away 34 runs and shared 3 wickets.

Sandeep came back in his second spell to pick Kagiso Rabada and complete a four-wicket haul as he made beautiful use of the seam moment on offer from the surface. Varun Aaron was introduced as late as 17th over and he also got a wicket on the very first ball of his over. Mohit Sharma concluded DD’s struggle with the wicket of Shahdab Nadeem who had no idea how to deal with a slower delivery.

67 all out in 17.1 overs was just better than RCB’s dismal show against KKR to be the worst batting show by any team in this edition of the IPL.

Chasing 68 Kings’ openers went about business in absolutely professional fashion with Martin Guptill hitting the Delhi bowlers with disdain and dismissed any chances of the DD bowlers making a comeback in the game. Hashim Amla at the other end was happy to let his partner do the bulk of the work and on the 5th ball of the 8th over as Guptill swept Nadeem for a single he not only got to his half century but also finished the chase for his team.
