Kolkata Knight Riders continued their golden run in this year’s IPL season as they achieved their third consecutive victory. At the top of the points table with 14 points and an outstanding NRR, KKR seems to be knocking the door for the playoffs. On the other hand, Delhi Daredevils continue to languish at the bottom.
Earlier in the day, it was Captain Gautam Gambhir who won the toss as Kolkata Knight Riders elected to field first. They made two changes as Nathan Coulter-Nile came in place of Dwayne Bravo while Sheldon Jackson was included ahead of Piyush Chawla. For Delhi Daredevils, Ankit Bawne replaced Aditya Tare in the playing XI.
Delhi Daredevils began in emphatic fashion. While opener Karun Nair played a slow knock, Sanju Samson provided some fireworks from the other end. After Nair’s dismissal, Shreyas Iyer joined the party as both together combined for a 75 run partnership off 55 balls for the third wicket.
However, quick dismissals of both batsmen triggered a collapse for the Delhi Daredevils. The likes of Rishabh Pant, Chris Morris and Corey Anderson failed to get going as they could only manage 160/6 in their quota of 20 overs.
Nathan Coulter-Nile struck thrice as he was the pick of the bowlers among the Kolkata bowlers. Umesh Yadav also managed to get a wicket but was a bit expensive. Sunil Narine was clinical as his figures of 1/25 depict.
For Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunil Narine failed to recreate his magic with the bat as he was bowled by Kagiso Rabada. However, Gambhir played yet another scintillating captain’s knock as he took Kolkata Knight Riders home. Earlier, Robin Uthappa who was dropped in the beginning went on to score his consecutive half century. He scored 4 sixes in his innings of 59(33).
However, the star of the day was Gambhir with his 71 runs from just 52 balls. His innings ensured it was a comfortable chase for the Kolkata Knight Riders as they’re already on the brink of qualifying for the playoffs.

Delhi's batting losing plot again: from 126-1 to 140-4 in 2 overs and 180 now looks doubtful. KKR have stormed back, and for the first time!

Sanju Samson scored 27 runs in his first 12 balls. In the next 14 balls he scored a run a ball.
Samson could have hurt KKR but he didn't.
